Your first week
The welcome tour, the getting-started checklist, and what the portal will prompt you to do next.
Last updated
The portal introduces itself gradually rather than all at once. This is what it will show you, in what order, and how to get any of it back if you dismiss it.
The welcome screen
The first time you reach the dashboard, the portal opens Welcome to the Barkr Client Portal! — Your centralized platform for accurate, defensible valuations. It lists what the portal is for:
- Obtain Defensible Valuations — submit and monitor valuation requests.
- Manage Active Contracts — access active contracts, terms and renewals.
- Ensure Portfolio Accuracy — reprice assets regularly to track risk.
Two buttons: Get Started begins a guided tour of the dashboard, and Skip Tour closes the dialog. You have to choose one — clicking outside it will not dismiss it.
The guided tour
Choosing Get Started highlights each part of the dashboard and the sidebar in turn, with a short note on what it is for. It takes about a minute and you can leave at any point.
Later tours appear when you first do something new — creating a submission, accepting pricing, requesting a re-run, renewing a contract. Each one is tied to the screen it explains, so it only appears when it is useful.
The getting-started checklist
Beneath the welcome screen, the dashboard shows a single prompt card suggesting one next step. As the portal puts it: We’ll always show the one thing that’s most useful to learn next — never a wall of steps.
Each card offers Start Guide, which runs the tour for that step, and Maybe Later, which hides the card until your next sign-in. The steps, in order:
| Step | Roughly |
|---|---|
| Explore Your Submissions | 30 seconds |
| Create Your First Submission | 45 seconds |
| Accept Your First Pricing | 60 seconds |
| Rerun an Inactive Submission | only once you have one |
| Renew an Expiring Contract | only once you have one |
| Review Your Contracts | 30 seconds |
The last three only appear when they apply — the portal will not suggest renewing a contract before you have one nearing its end date. Once you complete a step it does not come back.
If your organisation has been using the portal since before the checklist existed, it is suppressed automatically. You already know your way around, and the portal does not pretend otherwise.
A sensible first week
- Secure the account. Turn on two-factor authentication and save the recovery codes somewhere your team can reach them.
- Fill in your profile. Name, role and phone number, so Barkr knows who to contact about a submission. See Your profile and settings.
- Read the shape of the process. How a valuation works is the ten-minute version of everything else in here.
- Send one real submission. One loan, one submission — that is the unit Barkr’s contracts are built around. See Submitting assets for pricing.
- Watch the dashboard. The top row tells you what is waiting on you. See The dashboard.
Getting the guidance back
Dismissing a prompt with Maybe Later hides it only until your next sign-in. Completed steps do not return. If you want to go over something again, the article for it is in this Knowledge Center — that is what it is here for, and the tours point at it too.
