Setting up your account

Barkr creates your account for you — there is no sign-up form. When it is ready you receive an email containing a secure setup link. Opening that link and choosing a password is the whole of setup.

The setup link is valid for 6 hours and can only be used once. If it has expired or you have already used it, you can request a new one from the same screen — see If the link does not work below.

Claiming your account

1. Open the email from Barkr and click the setup link. It takes you to the portal, which shows Verifying your sign-in link… for a moment.
2. The portal asks you to confirm who you are: Confirm Your Email, with your address shown. Click Continue as {your address}.
   • If the address shown is not yours, choose Use a different email and enter the address the invitation was sent to.
   • If no address is shown, the portal asks you to type it in. Use the address the invitation arrived at.
3. On the Set Your Password screen, choose a password. It must be at least 8 characters and contain an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character. A strength meter updates as you type.
4. Re-enter the same password in Confirm Password.
5. Click Set Password & Sign In.
6. You will see You’re All Set! and be taken straight to your dashboard. You are signed in — there is no second login step.

Do not close the tab part-way through. The portal will warn you if you try, because a half-finished setup leaves you needing a fresh link.

Why the extra confirmation step

The portal deliberately does not sign you in the instant you open the link. Confirming the address first means a forwarded or intercepted link cannot quietly sign you into someone else’s account.

If the link does not work

Every one of these screens carries a Request New Link button. Use it, and a fresh setup link is sent to your address within a minute or two.

What you see	What it means
This setup link has expired	More than 6 hours passed between the email being sent and the link being opened.
This setup link was already used	Setup links work once. If you did not finish choosing a password, request a new one.
Finish setting up your account	You reached the setup page without a link. Open the link from your invitation email, or request a new one.
Your session has expired	The link was valid but the sign-in behind it went stale mid-setup. Request a new link and start again.

After requesting one you will see Link Sent! If nothing arrives, check your spam folder — the message comes from Barkr and contains a one-time link, which some filters treat suspiciously.

What to do next

1. Turn on two-factor authentication. It is not forced, but your account carries commercially sensitive valuations. See Two-factor authentication.
2. Complete your profile. Your name, role and contact number help the Barkr team route questions about your submissions. See Your profile and settings.
3. Take the welcome tour. The first time you reach the dashboard the portal offers to walk you through it. See Your first week.

You can change your password at any time from Settings → Password, reached from the circular button with your initials at the bottom of the sidebar.
