Your profile and settings

Your details, your password, your security options and the appearance of the portal.

Settings is reached from the circular button showing your initials, at the bottom of the sidebar. It has four tabs.

Profile

Your name, contact details and photograph. Barkr uses these to know who to contact about a submission, so they are worth filling in properly.

  • Photograph — click the avatar to upload one. You can crop and zoom before saving; the portal stores a square version.
  • Given name and Surname.
  • Email address — see below, this one is not a simple edit.
  • Country code and Phone number — supply both or neither. A number without its country code is rejected.

Changing your email address

Your email address is also how you sign in, so changing it takes two steps and cannot complete without access to the new mailbox.

  1. Enter the new address and save. If another account already uses it you will see This email address is already in use.
  2. Confirm the change when asked. The portal states clearly which address it is moving from and to.
  3. You will see Check your inbox — a verification email goes to the new address. The link expires in 1 hour.
  4. Click the link. The portal verifies it and the change takes effect.

Until you click that link, your old address is still your sign-in. If the link expires, start again from step one.

Password

Three fields: your current password, the new one, and a confirmation. The new password must meet the same rules as at setup — at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character.

Getting the first field wrong produces Current password is incorrect. Requiring it is deliberate: it means an unattended session cannot be used to lock you out of your own account.

If you have forgotten the current password, sign out and use Forgot password? instead — see Signing in.

Security

Two-factor authentication, recovery codes, and the sessions your account is signed in on. All of it is covered in Two-factor authentication.

Appearance

Light, dark, or follow your system setting. A per-person preference — it changes nothing for anyone else at your organisation.

What you cannot do here

Settings covers your account only. Adding a colleague, changing someone’s permissions or removing an account are all done by the Barkr team — there is no self-service user management in the client portal.

To add or remove someone, contact Barkr. See Contacting support.
