Submitting assets for pricing

Creating a submission, what each field asks for, and how to change one after the fact.

Last updated

A submission is one asset list sent for valuation. Create one per loan — see How a valuation works for why that matters.

Creating a submission

  1. Select Submissions from the sidebar.
  2. Click Create, at the top right of the submissions table.
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Asset Types — pick every type present in this loan’s collateral. More than one is fine.
    • Number of Assets — how many, in total. At least one.
    • Supporting documents — drag files in, or click to browse.
    • Asset links — web addresses for listings, spec sheets or manufacturer pages. Each has to be a valid URL.
    • Instructions — anything about the assets or the loan that is not obvious from the paperwork. Optional, and frequently the most useful field on the form.
  4. Review and click Create.

A confirmation appears in the top-right corner and the submission appears in the table as Submitted, with its VSA number.

You must provide at least one file or one link. Barkr cannot price a list of asset types and a count. If you have neither, the form will say so: Please upload at least one file or provide at least one link.

Valuation type

Most submissions need no choice here. If your asset types include depreciating hardware such as GPUs, the portal sets the valuation type to depreciation automatically, because that is the only way those assets can be priced. See GPUs and depreciating assets.

The terms, the first time

The first time anyone at your organisation submits, the portal shows Submission Terms & Confidentiality before the submission goes through. In summary:

  • Submitted material may include sensitive information.
  • Barkr does not require or recommend including personal client details or unrelated sensitive information — only what is directly relevant to the asset.
  • Everything submitted is used solely to value the asset or assets, treated as confidential, and safeguarded with a commercially reasonable degree of care.

Tick I understand and accept the terms and conditions and submit. You will not be asked again.

Managing a submission afterwards

In the submissions table, double-click a row to open it, or use the action menu () beside its status.

  • View — the documents, the VSA number, the current status, and the valuation table once there is one.
  • Edit — change details or add more material, then save.
  • Delete — remove it entirely. You will be asked for your password, and for a six-digit code if you have two-factor authentication enabled. If you signed in within the last fifteen minutes you will not be asked again.

Deleting a submission cannot be undone. It removes the submission and its data from Barkr’s servers.

What locks once review starts

When a submission reaches Under Review, Barkr is actively standardising the asset data. Changing the list underneath that would invalidate the work, so from that point:

  • You can still upload additional files and add new links.
  • You cannot modify or remove files or links already there, or change the asset types, the attachment type, or the number of assets.

The portal shows a Restricted notice on the edit form explaining exactly this. If something in the original submission was wrong, say so in the instructions or contact Barkr rather than trying to work around the lock.

Tracking it

The status column follows the submission through Submitted → Under Review → In Progress → Ready. You will get a notification each time it moves, and the dashboard lists everything currently in progress.

When it reaches Ready, go to Reviewing your pricing.
